If you look up at the night sky shortly after sunset tonight Tuesday, March 28, you’ll happen to see an incredible astronomic event in which five different planets including Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus, and Mars will together in the night sky to become visible within a 50-degree sector!
While the planets have been visible over the last few days and will continue to be visible for the rest of the week, tonight is the best day to see the planets in alignment with a clear view of Venus shining the brightest.
Venus (magnitude -4.0) will shine the brightest while Jupiter (magnitude -2.1) and Mercury (magnitude -1.3) fall second and third brightest, visible near the Pisces constellation by the horizon.
According to Starwalk, Jupiter, and Mercury will shine in the constellation Aries. Uranus (magnitude 5.8) will be visible next to Venus though it won’t be as bright, while Mars will sit high up in the sky by the Gemini constellation.
The alignment of planets like this is a rare event, though just last year in June we saw five other planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) align for the first time in over two decades.
