Grapevine Mills is already the sort of place where a quick errand can unexpectedly turn into an all-afternoon commitment.
There are outlet bags to carry, a giant aquarium to wander through, an indoor amusement attraction or two, and enough dining options to keep you around a while.
But now, tucked inside the sprawling mall just outside Dallas, a whole other planet has emerged.
Bubble Planet: An Immersive Experience has transformed part of Grapevine Mills into a wildly colorful, bubble-filled world of enormous ball pits, floating balloons, kaleidoscopic lights, optical illusions, and more than 10 rooms designed to be touched, explored, and photographed.

Grapevine Mall
It’s part dream sequence, part sensory playground, and it’s quickly becoming one of the nation’s hottest traveling experiences — having popped up in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, and now Dallas.
Here’s why it’s grabbing everyone’s attention, and what you should know if you’re considering a visit!
A bubble-filled world has popped up inside Grapevine Mills
Grapevine Mills is not exactly a small operation.
Simon, its ownership group, calls it North Texas’ largest shopping destination, with more than 165 stores, while USA TODAY readers ranked it the No. 7 best mall in America earlier this year.
That makes the residency of Bubble Planet feel appropriately over-the-top.
Beyond the racks, food court trays, and outlet-store treasure hunting, visitors can now walk through a self-guided fantasy world built around the humble bubble.
Not the soap-and-wand kind you blow in the backyard, either. Think larger-than-life spheres, rooms washed in saturated color, and installations that play with scale until your phone’s camera roll starts looking like it was edited by a very enthusiastic candy company.
The experience runs indoors at Grapevine Mills through December 31, 2026, making it a particularly handy backup plan for the kind of Texas weather that cannot decide whether it wants to be blazing, stormy, or both in the same weekend.

Expect a giant ball pit, a balloon ocean, and infinity-room illusions
Bubble Planet takes guests through more than 10 themed rooms, with each space built around a different version of playful, surreal escapism.
The Bubble Bath room is the big one: a giant ball pit where adults are very much invited to reclaim a small, mildly chaotic piece of childhood.
Then there is the Balloon Ocean, filled with oversized balloons and bubble-like forms that make the room feel less like a mall unit and more like you have wandered into an underwater dream made entirely of floating color.
The Infinity Room goes in a different direction, surrounding guests with light, reflections, and kaleidoscopic illusions that stretch the space seemingly forever. It’s the kind of room that makes it difficult to tell where the wall ends, where the mirror begins, and whether you have taken 40 photos or 400.
An optional VR experience sends visitors on a digital journey through a bubble-covered planet, while other rooms use projections, tactile play, and light effects to engage all five senses.
The experience is meant to be explored at your own pace, so you can linger in the rooms that make you feel like a kid again and move swiftly past anything that makes you question your relationship with balloons!

A ready-made Grapevine day trip
Bubble Planet’s mall setting is part of its appeal, not merely a location detail.
Grapevine Mills is roughly two miles north of DFW Airport and has more than just stores to fill a day, including Meow Wolf Grapevine, SEA LIFE Aquarium, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, a 24-screen AMC, Round1 Bowling, The Escape Game, and Rainforest Cafe.
So yes, you can show up specifically to dive into an enormous ball pit. You can also turn it into a full-blown family outing, a colorful date, a group hang, or a reason to finally investigate whether the outlet section actually has the pair of shoes you have been “thinking about” for three months.
And during the holidays, the trip comes with an extra dose of seasonal magic.
Grapevine has been the state-designated Christmas Capital of Texas since 2009, welcoming more than two million visitors annually during a festive season filled with more than 1,400 events over 40 days. So maybe it’s worth a visit then too!
