In the Dallas area, there are plenty of opportunities for train rides. Whether eating candy on witchy freights or sipping wine of Christmas trains, there’s ample opportunity for aspiring passengers to enjoy the classic freight transportation. If you’re prone to motion sickness, you can instead opt for a ‘ride’ at the new Boxcar bar in Dallas.
Housed inside a former laundromat in Greenville Avenue, Boxcar is a 1,100-square-foot bar that simulates the feeling of being in a vintage railcar. Its interior is adorned with chandeliers, elegant seating, and golden toilets in the bathroom.
Its windows are embedded with TV screens that project a rolling landscape – the windows are also curtained to enhance the effect of moving.
As far as the menu goes, Boxcar serves an assortment of upscale craft cocktails and themed eats.
Featured cocktails include themed libations including Light at the End of the Tunnel mixed with Toki Japanese whiskey, cream sherry, averna, and Peychaud’s, Lovers Station – a gin-based cocktail made with St. Germain, Peychaud’s, egg white, and lemon, and Broken Quarts with bourbon, lemon, and cherry sage syrup. The bar also serves cocktail staples like French 75, Margarita, Old Fashinoed, and Bees Knees.
As for food, its Chef Eric Freidline-curated menu features options ranging from Wagyu Pastrami French Dip, Cheddar Corn Dog served with garlic alioli, Firecracker Chicken Meatballs, Meat and Cheese Board, Truffle Parmesan Tater Tots, and Butter Croissant Beignets. All cuisine is served on fine China.
Boxcar is a project from Dudley’s Sports Grill in Rockwell co-owners Patrick Gorman and Jordan Carson (co-owner of Christies Sports Bar & Grill), Carlos Angel, and Allen Scott.
Boxcar is located at 4509 Greenville Avenue in Dallas. The bar is presently in its soft opening phase.
