Earlier this year, The World’s 50 Best, published a list of North America’s 50 Best Bars. At number one on their list, was Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City. This May, Dallasites will be able to experience the bar’s expert mixology at a two-day pop-up.
Located inside of the NH Hotel in the Colonia Juárez in Mexico City, Handshake Speakeasy has earned the title of the Best Bar in North America (and Best Bar in Mexico) for the second year in a row. The bar was named the best bar in the world in 2024. Praising its design, pure Mexico cocktails, and ingredients sourced from local markets, The World’s 50 Best proclaimed the “magic is evident in every glass”.
From May 31 to June 1, the best bar in North America will be in Dallas. Taking place at Catbird at Thompson Dallas, the Handshake Speakeasy pop-up will allow for Dallasites to get a taste of the venue’s legendary cocktails for one weekend only.

“This collaboration represents an extraordinary chance to experience Handshake’s unparalleled cocktail craftsmanship,” said Jared Givens, Director of Restaurants, Bar and Events at Thompson Dallas, in a press release. “Getting into Handshake can be a challenging reservation to secure – now they will come directly to Dallas for one weekend only.”

On May 31, the event will feature a selection of four expertly crafted cocktails featuring Socorro Tequila and Mezca from Racho that include: Matcha Martini, Olive Oil Gimlet, Lychee Highball, and Coffee Fizz. On the second day of the event, Handshake Speakeasy bartender, Melissa Iturbide Landa will lead a master class in mixology, showcasing the bar’s award-winning beverage program, FREE for food and beverage industry professionals (with RSVP). The class is open to non industry professionals with a ticket purchase of $25, which includes one Happy Hour cocktail.
