Catch a breath of fresh air this fall!

Enjoy the cool, crisp temperatures while you can, Dallas. Get out and about this fall at the city’s many great patios! Be it a sprawling, boot-stomping backyard or a rooftop vista with a view, there is a swell of wonderful outdoor venues to savor the spring! [Featured image: @dallas_cool_places]

1. Desert Racer

Parked (literally) in Greenville Avenue, is the 8,000-square-foot patio and Ducati garage that is Desert Racer. Simulating the open roads of Santa Fe, the restaurant and patio offers a Southwestern oasis  – spruced up with funky cacti and the occasional off-road motor vehicle – to enjoy a plate of nachos and a Hi-Ball, local brew, or FZN Marg courtesy of their Vantina.

2. Rustic

Home to a Texas-sized patio, Rustic in Uptown is truly a “backyard under the stars.”  Perfect for a spacious, open-air mid-afternoon brunch or late night foray, the Rustic offers a boot-stomping selection of Southern fare and homecooking. Their libations menu runs deep, with local brews, sparkling wines of all colors, an enticing cocktails to boot. The Rustic regularly stages free live music performances and well to add a little more boogie to your evening!

3. Sky Blossom

Perched on a rooftop in the heart of downtown, Sky Blossom is a vibrant Vietnamese Bistro and bar that offers customers the chance to dine in the clouds. Their brunch menu, slated to drop this spring, is set to feature a Vietnamese twist on brunch staples with their Steak and Egg (Bo Ne), Pandan Waffles, and Blossom Parfait. While you’re there you might as well add a splash of color to your afternoon with their dazzling variety of fruity cocktails.

4. Paradiso

Bishop Arts Southern European escape, Paradiso, is a multi-sensory experience every brunch should aspire to be. Adorned with colorful artwork, bespoke furniture, and lush greenery – not to mention their gorgeous garden terrace – Paradiso offers a lovely quaint setting to enjoy french toast, breakfast pizza, and croque madame.

5. Truckyard

Fit with a treehouse patio, live music stage, and a carousel of food trucks turning out top-notch bites – not to mention their Philly Cheesesteak-famous house kitchen – Truckyard is an absolute must for local to do cool Dallas sh*t.

6. Thunderbird Station

If you’re planning on cruising through Deep Ellum this week, park the car and refuel at the retro new Thunderbird Station, for a couple beers, a Texas Coke (aka Dr. Pepper), and maybe even a Frito pie. The bar offers a menu full of gearhead-inspired cocktails, such as “Keep On Truckin’”, which features Noble Coyote Cold Brew, liquers, and coconut milk; or “Peel Out”, a dreamsicle-esque Push-Pop throwback concoction with orange, vanilla, and vodka.

7. Braindead Brewing

Home to some of the most delicious house-brewed beers in town, Braindead also offers a solid menu to grease up those wheels. The brewery also comes through with the jams, hosting open mic Thursdays and DJs on weekends so be sure to tune in.

8. Chelsea Corner

Tucked away at the historic corner of Monticello and McKinney Avenue, Chelsea Corner a tasty menu – brunch included – with options ranging from Tex Mex, to Backyard Burgers, and Barnyard pizzas. Their brick-paved back patio offers an easy-breezy garden atmosphere to soak up the sun and a couple glasses of wine.

9. Dahlia on Ross

A picture can speak a thousand words. We’ll leave the description of the Dahlia’s luscious Southern European-inspired patio and cocktail garden to your eyes. It’s an enchanting atmosphere to compliment brunch, a shareable charcuterie board, and/or a dazzling array of floral cocktails!

10. Sandbar Cantina

There’s not a lot of beaches (zero to our recollection) in Dallas, so your closest bet to sun’s out, gun’s out lifestyle may well be Deep Ellum’s Sandbar Cantina and Grill. If you haven’t heard of the cantina, we’re here to get your head out of the sand – or into it depending on your preference. The Cantina is home to a collection of sand volleyball courts, beach-side patio, and one incredible view of the Dallas skyline – not to mention impeccable fish tacos!
