Find Decadent Cake And Sparkling Cocktails Inside This Northpark Center Retail Store

Who would’ve thought?

There’s much to find at Neiman Marcus. The American chain of department stores is stocked to the brim with designer fashion, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, and homeware. Inside the store’s outpost in NorthPark Mall, however, there’s even more to plunder at its Mermaid Bar – home to what may be the best coconut cake in the city. [Featured image: @thecuriouscowgirl]

Take a nautical detour 30,000 leagues under the shopping spree at Neiman Marcus inside the NorthPark shopping mall, where a maritime bistro awaits. Here you’ll find a trove of oceanic artwork, bubbly cocktails, and sumptuous seafare – er, bistro fare.

Adorned with imaginative mermaid statues, cerulean tables, and other ceramic pieces from renowned Danish artist, Bjorn Wiinblad, The Mermaid Bar offers a wavvy atmosphere in which to enjoy an afternoon pick-me-up.

Open daily from 11 am to 5 pm and noon to 5 pm on Sundays, The Mermaid Bar serves a variety of bistro fare that includes, sandwiches salads, and starters. In addition to coffees, craft beer, wines, and sprightly non-alcoholic beverages, the bar offers a colorful array of cocktails.

Those include their Spicy Rum Punch – made with Sailor Jerry spiced rum, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, lime juice, pomegranate, and orange zest; Strawberry Margarita with Avion Silver, Cointreau, fresh strawberries and lime, and Nm Mimosa with Domaine Chandon Brut, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, and fresh orange juice.

When visiting The Mermaid Bar, you absolutely must order from their bakery. Their cakes are displayed on the counter daily and range from German chocolate, carrot cake, strawberry, and red velvet cake. Coconut may or may not be your thing, but we highly recommend that you try their Coconut Cake, the taste of which is simply divine.

Word to the wise, the people know about the bar’s Coconut Cake goodness. As such, if you’re looking for a slice of heaven, you better go before one o’ clock, which is around the time that the bar sells out.

Happy sails!
