Hockey under black lights is coming to North Texas. Frisco’s Comerica Center is one of seven stops on the first Cosmic Hockey Takeover Tour, and it will host the first hockey game the city has seen under this format.
Cosmic Hockey comes from Cosmic Sports, the company behind Cosmic Baseball, which has logged more than 90 sellouts since it launched in 2024. This new version moves the concept onto the ice with two teams of professional players: the Chilly Peppers and the Neon Miracles.
The Chilly Peppers carry on the “Chili Pepper” name from the baseball side, while the Neon Miracles are a tribute to the most historic event in hockey history. Both squads will train at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, before heading out on the road.
How a Cosmic Hockey game works
Each game has two halves with modified rules designed to show off the players’ skill and invite more fan interaction. The first half is played under standard arena lighting. In the second half, the arena switches to UV-reactive black lights, and the uniforms, gear and puck glow neon.
Fans are encouraged to wear reactive clothing, and reactive merchandise will be on sale at the games. A pre-game block party will let you meet the players and get early access to merchandise. The organizers describe the event as family-friendly.
“Cosmic Hockey isn’t just a game played under blacklights,” said Chris Martin, owner and founder of Cosmic Sports. “It’s an immersive, high-energy entertainment experience that blends elite athletic speed with pure magic.”
John Cimperman, VP of Cosmic Hockey, said the show is aimed at both longtime hockey fans and newcomers to the sport.
