
Gearing up for a summer of cinema? The DFW area has no shortage of theaters – ranging from the iconic Texas Theatre to the completely immersive Cosm, Rooftop Cinema Club – all provide their own unique flavor the movie-going experience. For something a little more nostalgic, but with modern amenities, cruise up to the Coyote Drive-In Theater in Fort Worth.
Situated across 18 acres near downtown, Fort Worth, the Coyote Drive-In is a modernized, open-air cinema that provides a range of experiences for the whole family to enjoy. The venue features four screens equipped with high-definition, laser-projection technology wherein audio is streamed directly into up to 1,300 car radios.
Each night, the venue hosts double features of the latest and greatest in Hollywood. At the time of this article, screenings include: Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Final Desination: Bloodlines, Karate Kid: Legends, and Lilo and Stitch: Live Action. Coming up, the venue will screen Ballerina, Megan 2.0, How To Train Your Dragon, and 28 Years Later.
But movies aren’t all that’s offered at Coyote Drive-In. On weekends, the drive-in hosts live music performed by local artists ahead of their screenings. Here, the drive-in also hosts local food trucks where customers can grab a bite before the show.
The venue also has a canteen that serves a mix of classic cinema foods from hotdogs, popcorn, and pizza to more innovative options like Wagyu sliders, Cheeto popcorn, and Horchata bites.
Patrons can also scan the website’s QR code or use the Coyote Drive-In app to order in which staff will deliver their food and drinks directly to their vehicles. The canteen also serves a variety of alcoholic options, including local craft beers in 12 oz – 16 oz cans, as well as wines, frozen margs, and a specialty house cocktail called the Coyote Nectar.
The venue also features a playground for the kiddos, as well as an assortment of retro games from Nintendo to Sega to be enjoyed gamers of all ages. The venue is pet-friendly so long as animals are kept on their leashes.
Prices of admission are $8 for adults aged 12 and up; $6 for kids (5 – 11); and free for kids aged 4 and under.
