Didn’t end up booking a Mediterranean excursion this summer? Don’t sweat it. Located just outside Dallas is the city of McKinney, home of Adriatica village – a fairy tale community modeled after the Croatian fishing village of Supetar.
Just a half hour drive from Dallas, Adriatica village in McKinney is a 45-acre Mediterranean oasis inside the Stonebridge Ranch development. The Croatian-inspired, waterfront community is populated with stone buildings decorated in iron and wood accents, verandas, and cobblestone streets.
Much like that you would find in Supetar, Adriatica village features a landmark, spire-topped bell tower as well as the Bella Donna Chapel, a fully functioning church modeled after a 16th-century Croatian church.
Though a residency for some, with ample lodging and opportunities for temporary stays, Adriatica village also welcomes visitors. For those seeking to celebrate matrimony, the Bella Donna Chapel does allow for such booking.
Additionally, the Croatian village near Dallas features a variety of local shops, small businesses, eateries, and retailers.
One of the Croatian village’s signature storefronts is the aptly named, Guitar Sanctuary. Built in a darling stone building, the guitar store and performance venue features a vast array of upscale guitar for high-caliber shredders.
Other area retailers include the Love Life Store and Karadie Boutique for trendy fashion wares.
Adriatica also features a variety of dining options including the appropriately named Waterfront Grill, as well as a traditional Napoletana pizzeria and Zin Zen Wine Bistro.
If you’re looking for a day trip with a European flavor, look no further than the Croatian village just a short drive outside Dallas. Just to be sure you get the most out of the trip, be sure to check the community’s website for future concerts, festivals, and events.
