About Cupid’s Undie Run and neurofibromatosis
In 2010, a well-intentioned group in Washington, D.C. conceived an unconventional plan to show support for their friend in the hospital. Drew Leathers, who had recently received a diagnosis of neurofibromatosis (NF), a rare condition leading to the growth of tumors on nerves, inspired his brother Chad, along with Brendan Hanrahan and Bobby Gill, to bravely run through the brisk D.C. air sans clothing. Their aim was to raise funds for researching a cure for NF. Despite Drew’s valiant struggle, enduring over 28 surgeries and countless hours in the hospital, he, unfortunately, succumbed to the disease in 2015.
For thirteen consecutive years, Cupid’s Undie Run has carried on in remembrance of Drew, expanding its reach to thirty cities throughout the United States. During this time, the event has successfully generated over $21.7 million, dedicated to seeking a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF). The collective endeavors of runners nationwide ensure that the Children’s Tumor Foundation receives crucial funds annually, supporting ongoing research into this debilitating disease.
Join the fight and help to raise $25,000 on February 17th, 2024.
