Looking for a sexy spot to hideout this season? After years and an extensive six-figure renovation, AKAI has revealed its striking new space inside Musume in Dallas Arts District. The redesigned speakeasy features an entirely new layout, providing an immersive amber-lit interior inspired by the Los Angeles nightlife scene.
AKAI originally opened inside Musume restaurant in 2019. After six strong years, the speakeasy flourished before undergoing an extensive renovation to further amplify the space. The redesign was in collaboration with Canadian-based firm, The Design Agency. Inspired by the LA nightlife scene, the agency affected the space with luxe flourishes, dramatic lighting, and other immersive elements.

Featured interior elements include the captivating 25-foot marble bar, complimented by velvet low-backed bar stools, as well as “floating” gold chandeliers, a 15-foot serpentine banquette, and a striking AKAI dragon mural.
Furthermore, the new AKAI space features a gold-plated DJ booth as its centerpiece, where the venue plans to stage a lineup of local and national DJs. Behind which, the venue now offers private and semi-private VIP lounge spaces.
“We are thrilled to unveil the ‘new’ AKAI after this transformative, six-figure renovation,” said AKAI co-founder, Josh Babb, in a press release.
“This investment reflects our commitment to creating an unparalleled nightlife experience in Dallas. From the state-of-the-art DJ booth to the custom-built black marble bar and immersive projection-mapped walls, every details has been designed to captivate and inspire. We can’t wait for our guests to step through our hidden doors and scivoer the perfect blend of sophistication, innovation, and intimacy that defines the new AKAI.”

AKAI has also debuted a revamped cocktail menu, using a medley of sweet, smoky, and bitter ingredients to craft a tantalizing array of cocktails. Here, the venue also offers one of the city’s largest collections of Japanese whiskeys, offering over 30 varieties as well as an expansive array of wines, champagnes, and bottle service options.
AKAI is now open at Musume in Dallas Arts District from 8 pm to 2 am Wednesdays through Saturdays. The space is only open to guests 21 and up. Reservations are recommended. Two ways of entrance to AKAI are either through the kitchen, lead by a host, or through the red-lit door on Crockett Street.
