They not like us? The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) apparently has beef with the Dallas Police Department (DPD). In response to DPD putting up a recruitment billboard in Fort Worth, the FWPD dropped a DPD diss track and music video synced on top of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” beat.
“We got nothing but MAD LOVE for our brothers and sisters in blue to the east of us. But seriously???” FWPD posted on Twitter/X. “You guys are going to advertise in our city? Okay, D…here’s our response. And if YOU are interested in becoming a Police Officer, then be sure to join the best and keep it west!”
The video features an officer driving while listening to Not Like Us as he comes upon the DPD billboard – all the contact and messaging information is blurred. The scene cuts officers in a secure, password-required location, where one officers raps over the beat as another dances.
The track features notable bars such as:
Say D, I see you like our city // Throwing up print stuff that’s a real pity
Numbers don’t lie // Why you throwing up a board? // Last time I checked we took 14 of yours
The last lyric in reference to the fact that FWPD has recruited 14 officers from DPD, highlighting this point by showing DPD badges being replaced with FWPD ones on uniforms. The closing message on the video reads, “Be like us”, nodding for interested recruits to sign up with FWPD.
The video has garnered attention on social media, with other police departments and users commenting on the friendly feud. The Arlington Police Department, notably, reacted with a GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn.
As of yet, the Dallas Police Department has not issued a response – musical or otherwise to FWPD video.
