It’s Earth Day, Dallas, how are you celebrating? While you’re out enjoying the city’s abundant outdoor attractions like parks, gardens, and hiking trails, don’t forget to swing by H-E-B for your complimentary reusable bag as part of its yearly Earth Day campaign.
It’s fair to say that H-E-B is undeniably one of the most cherished institutions in Texas, if not the most beloved. And it’s not just our opinion—the grocer was recently recognized as the top supermarket retailer in the nation.
To honor Earth Day, H-E-B will distribute 265,000 complimentary reusable bags at its locations across the area. The event begins today, April 22, at 1 pm, with all affiliated stores of H-E-B in Texas, including Central Market, Mi Tienda, and Joe V’s Smart Shop, participating in the giveaway while supplies last.

This year’s bag pays tribute to Big Bend Ranch Texas State Park, marking the first in a series of reusable tote bags inspired by various Texas state parks that the store plans to release in the coming years. Since initiating their Earth Day campaign, the company has distributed over 3 million bags to the public.
Additionally, the company organized another Earth Day program: the H-E-B Annual School Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge. Participating schools gathered and exchanged plastic bags for H-E-B gift cards. The initiative led to the return of over five million plastic bags.
In the North/West Texas Region, Shepard Elementary, Academy at Nola Dunn Elementary, and McKillop Elementary demonstrated the highest recycling rates.
In recent days, Texas State Park rangers set up booths in participating stores statewide to commemorate Earth Day. Last year, H-E-B contributed $1 million to the Texas State Parks Centennial.
