Inspired by the success of Klyde Warren Park, Halperin Park seeks to reconnect Oak Cliff neighborhoods that were previously divided by the construction of I35E. Officials expect the 5-acre deck park to catalyze economic, environmental, and community revitalization of the area.

What is the estimated cost of Halperin Park?
Estimated costs of the monumental project are in the 7-digit territory. Through massive donations, including a $23 million donation from The Halperin Foundation — the park’s namesake — as well as $80 million in public funds sourced from The City of Dallas, North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and TxDOT.
The city anticipates a massive return on investment, estimating that the park will generate an economic impact of $5 billion within its first five years via tax revenue, increased property values, and Oak Cliff-area tourism.
When is Halperin Park opening in Dallas?
Officials will roll out the opening of Halperin Park in two phases:
Phase 1 (spring 2026)
Officials aim to unveil Phase 1 of Halperin Park this spring. The first phase will consist of 1.2 acres of the park as well as many of its anticipated amenities.
Opening this spring, Phase One of Halperin Park will debut 1.2 acres of vibrant, elevated green space that serves as a preview of the park’s mission to reconnect Southern Dallas. Visitors can look forward to strolling along the 12th Street Promenade and its Walk of Fame, which celebrates the community’s rich history, or exploring the whimsical “Treehouse in the Woods” playground.
Designed for both relaxation and engagement, this initial phase features expansive lawns and a dedicated performance space for local events, complemented by modern essentials like retail and dining kiosks and free public Wi-Fi. It is a compact but high-impact debut that transforms the air above I-35E into a welcoming urban oasis for the Oak Cliff community.
