Another famous actor is in town this week for a meet-and-greet, bottle-signing, alcohol brand endorsement event.
Last month Breaking Bad stars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston came to Dallas to mingle with fans and sign bottles of their Dos Hombres mezcal. This week it is actor and businessman Mark Wahlberg’s turn to step foot in the Big D for not one but two tequila-related events.
Tomorrow, March 2, the Transformers star will walk the pink carpet to celebrate the opening of the new La Neta Cocina y Lounge in Deep Ellum before he turns up at the Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods at 9500 N. Central Expressway on Friday, March 3 to sign bottles of Flecha Azul tequila.
While Thursday’s event at the glitzy new Mexican restaurant isn’t open to the public, the Spec’s event will be with the meet and greet scheduled to last from 1 pm to 3 pm.
A collaboration between Mexican PGA golfer Abraham Ancer and Mexican entrepreneur Aron Marquez, Flecha Azul Tequila was founded in 2016 and launched in 2020.
It was revealed last year that Wahlberg had taken a frequently made celebrity step of entering the beverage scene by becoming a partner in the emerging tequila brand and he’s here now to put his support behind the new range of premium, additive-free, handcrafted tequila.
Those who buy a bottle, which comes in five expressions: blanco, reposado, añejo, añejo cristalino and extra añejo, will get to meet Wahlberg .
Similar to the Breaking Bad star’s own brand of mezcal, Flecha Azul is produced by a multi-generational, family-owned and operated distillery in Mexico with decades of experience working with agave.
Mark Wahlberg will be at Spec’s at 9500 N. Central Expressway from 1 to 3 pm on Friday, March 3.
For those interested in Le Neta despite its media-only opening night, the stylish Mexican restaurant is the second La Neta Cocina y Lounge location after the original Las Vegas location.
Christian Galvan, a Texas native who has previously worked at Whiskey Cake and P.F. Chang’s is the executive chef and will head a kitchen that will offer modern Mexican dishes with a unique twist.
Already taking reservations, La Neta Cocina y Lounge will officially open tomorrow at the bottom of The Epic building found at 2525 Elm Street in Deep Ellum.
