The city of McKinney is set to host its annual Oktoberfest with traditional German music, dancing, and food this weekend. Across three days, the 19th annual McKinney Oktoberfest will become a Bavarian bash packed with beer tents, polka bands, dancing troupes, and more.
This weekend, McKinney’s historic square transforms into a Bavarian village for three days of traditional music, dancing, and beer. You can grab discounted pints during Friday’s early happy hour before a drum line leads the official keg-tapping ceremony.
Across multiple stages, the entertainment lineup features Alpine dance troupes, strolling accordion players, and polka performances from acts like Brave Combo, The Royal Klobasneks, and Alpenmusikanten.
Furthermore, participants can test their arm strength in the Hofbräu Masskrugstemmen stein-holding contest or show off in the Beard & Mustache Competition. The 17th Annual Weenie Dog Races will also return, inviting dachshunds and other dog breeds to race across the festival grounds.
Families can head to the Kinder Korner, which features carnival rides, a rock wall, and a petting zoo.
The entire festival footprint is completely cashless. To skip the downtown parking search, leave your car at City Hall (222 N. Tennessee St.) or First McKinney Baptist Church (1615 W. Louisiana St.) and catch one of the free trolleys running continuously to the square.
If you take a rideshare instead, direct your driver to the designated drop-off point on the west side of Mitchell Park, located on Benge Street between Louisiana and Virginia.
