Michelin announced its expansion into Texas earlier this Tuesday, recognizing the rich culinary scene in Texas cities.
What cities will be included on the Texas Michelin Guide?
The Texas Michelin Guide will feature exceptional restaurants in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.
How are restaurants rated for the Michelin Guide?
Michelin Inspectors award restaurants on a three-star rating system:
A single star is awarded to restaurants that use top-notch ingredients, ensuring each dish is consistently well-prepared with distinct, harmonious flavors. Two stars signify that the chef not only demonstrates exceptional skill but also infuses their personal flair and creativity into meticulously crafted, inspired dishes.
The Michelin Guide’s most prestigious honor is three stars. Only chefs of the highest caliber, those which demonstrate cooking as an artform, earn a three-star rating
Why is the Michelin Guide expanding into Texas?
In its press release, Michelin recognized Texas’ rich, vibrant, and diverse culinary scene, pointing out its particularly selection of Tex-Mex, locally sourced steaks, and barbecue.
“The Texas culinary scene has proven to be an exhilarating one, with multicultural influences, homegrown ingredients and talent that is rich in ambition,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides.
“Foodies and travel enthusiasts alike will find something to enjoy, with such a broad dining scene spanning farm-to-table dishes, fusion cuisine, upscale dining and the famous Texas-style barbecue. Texas is a perfect fit for the MICHELIN Guide, based on the experiences of our anonymous Inspectors.”
When will the first Texas Michelin Guide come out?
The company stated that it expects its first Texas Michelin Guide to be released later this year. The Texas Michelin Guide will also feature the most unique and exciting hotels in Texas.
