North Texas is set to welcome a massive new park destination this September. Just in time for crisper fall weather, North Community Park is a sprawling cycling‑ and nature‑focused green space complete with multi-use trails, scenic overlooks, and multiple playgrounds including a special, bison-themed play structure.
The new park is the project of Play Frisco. Play Frisco is the City of Frisco’s Parks and Recreation Department; it manages more than 50 parks and 70 miles of trails and frames its mission as helping residents “find well-being through play.”

Situated north of Panther Creek Parkway at 13770 Teel Parkway in Frisco, Northwest Community Park opens to the public on Saturday, September 19. The massive, 120-acre regional destination centers on a restored Blackland Prairie ecosystem, serving as a wildlife refuge equipped with educational exhibits about this rapidly disappearing habitat.
“This new park is a precious community asset for Frisco and a destination for the wider region. Acres of restored and enhanced Blackland Prairie are a refuge for wildlife and an immersive retreat for visitors,” officials wrote on the Frisco government website.
Throughout the site, miles of multi-use, hiking, running, and cycling trails. Actually, the park is in part billed as a $40 million bike park as it features a dedicated bike skills area with ramps, dirt jumps, and rolling features built for BMX, mountain bikes, and scooters.
Play Frisco has installed several themed play zones within the 120‑acre site, including the stand-out Bison Playground. Anchored by a 16.5‑foot, multi‑level bison play structure, the centerpiece doubles as a climbable play structure, complete with slides integrated into the body.

The park also features a prairie overlook, dog park, splash pad, pavilion, picnic areas, and more.
The grand opening for North Community Park takes place on September 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The morning event includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a fun run, a bike ride, and refreshments. Following the organized celebration, the grounds will remain open to the public for general use throughout the rest of the day.
