One of the most anticipated movies of the year is set to drop this March. Adapting the best-selling novel by Andy Weir – author of The Martian – the film stars Ryan Gosling playing Ryland Grace, an amnesia-addled recruit on a mission to save the world from an extinction-level event.
The film was shot with large-format cameras by Oscar-winning cinematographer, Greig Fraser, in order to capture the scale of deep space – one best seen on IMAX 70mm screens. Thankfully Dallas is home to one such cinema: Cinemark Dallas 17.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with the nuances of cinematic formatting: the IMAX 70mm features the complete 1.43 : 1 aspect ratio: meaning the picture grows to fill the entire screen – disappearing the black bars at the top and bottom. Furthermore 70mm film – compared to the commonplace digital format — provides far more detail, resulting in a much more immersive and realistic cinematic experience.
Ahead of its official release on March 20, 2026, Cinemark Dallas 17 will host a series of special early screenings of Project Hail Mary. The cinema will feature special preview screenings from March 13 – March 15, 2026 as some of the first 70mm shows in the U.S.
Additionally, a special screening on March 16, 2026, will take place for Amazon Prime members who can access ticketing options through the Amazon/Fandango portal.
Tickets are now available for early and official screenings through the cinema’s website. Project Hail Mary will officially release to the public on March 20. While Cinemark Dallas 17 is the only theater in the city that features 70mm film technology, you can catch the film elsewhere in Dallas at these local cinemas.
