Lights. Camera. Action!
In 2020, drive-in cinema pulled a U-turn out of obsolescence. The open-air theaters came in clutch in the throes of the pandemic to provide us with safe, much-needed entertainment and escape. While Dallas has its fare share of drive-in theaters, it’s hard to beat the film line-up at Rooftop Cinema Club at The Central.
From now through Valentine’s Day, the Rooftop Cinema Club at The Central will be hosting the ultimate date night movie experience.
Tomorrow night, February 10, the cinema’s 52-foot screen will feature Charlie Kaufman’s beautiful surrealist masterpiece, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, directed by Michel Gondry, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet.
Valentine’s Day weekend will mark the cinema’s last screenings before it draws the curtain on its drive-in cinema. To make things extra special, the cinema is planning a special Galentine’s Day event on the 13th, with screenings of two hilarious female-led films: Pitch Perfect at 7 pm, and Bridesmaids at 10 pm.
And because Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a little over-the-top romance, Rooftop Cinema Club will screen the tearjerking classic, The Notebook, at 6:45 pm, followed by lavish and wonderful rom-com, Crazy Rich Asians.
As the cinema experience isn’t complete without some in-theater snacks, the theater also features classic cinema concessions as well as a line of rotating local food trucks on the grounds.
Tickets to the cinema start at $30.96 for two people, and range up to $42.87 for a weekend Movie Squad package deal available for cars over three people.
Parking is first come first served. The experience is entirely contactless, with audio broadcasted via the FM transmitter radio in attending vehicles.
