Test your strength, stamina and grit at Twin Canyons Ranch this weekend.
Named after the ancient world’s most fearless warriors, the Spartan Stadion is a 5 km obstacle course with 20 challenges designed to put you through your paces. Some of you may be familiar with the film 300 which depicts the heroic deeds displayed in the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. Few of you, however, will fail to recognize the notorious muscular movie posters of Gerard Butler and co that glamorized the already celebrated warrior society of ancient Sparta.
This weekend that warrior society comes to Granbury’s Twin Canyons Ranch on Saturday, October 20th, and Sunday, October 21st. 1 hour outside the Dallas Fort Worth area and just 30 minutes to the historic center of Granbury. The lush grounds situated south of lake Granbury along the banks of the Brazos River will be transformed into a battleground offering anybody the opportunity to come and test their metal at the world-renowned challenge.
Worry not, competitors need not be built like the characters in the film with their shining six-packs and scarlet cloaks (though you can compete in whichever attire you deem fit). The modern twist on the ancient Greek tradition, however, provides a great opportunity to train yourself up and put your brain and body to the test in a stunning setting a short drive from Dallas.
As one of the world’s most formidable obstacle courses, the race is known for its optimum organization. You can compete solo or in teams of friends, families, or co-workers, and there are various different races to enter. Elite races are the most challenging of all while Age Group races, Morning, Afternoon, and the Kids Race all offer alternative options.
Spectators are also more than welcome to come and watch racers from the safe and comfortable Spartan Race festival ground area at only $20. So your loved ones can show their full support and help you through those exhausting last steps (if they’re not going through the thick and thin in there with you).
Event day photos taken by professional photographers are also provided free of charge and will be posted on the event page around a week after the event takes place.
A new venue for Spartan in 2022, according to the Spart website “this course will include rugged, challenging terrain that will challenge you, no matter your fitness level.”
There are various ticket types for different ages, start times, and difficulties. The Sprint 5K features 2o obstacles across 3 miles while the Beast 21K features 30 obstacles across 13 miles. For those really wanting to test their metal, the Ultra 50K is the most challenging of all and features 60 obstacles spread out over 31 miles.
There will also be a variety of kid’s races featuring appropriately sized obstacles for little ones of different ages to conquer.
All finishers receive a T-shirt, medal, and professional photos, and every registration comes with access to the Spartan Account to track race results, photos, teams, and challenges.
Tickets and more information for the Twin Canyons race can be found on the Spartan Race website.
