Texas is moving full-steam ahead into summer. Get your season into gear aboard the Lonestar Speakeasy Special, a brand new speakeasy train experience in Grapevine where patrons can swing back into the ’20s.
The Jazz-age locomotive is among the freight at the historic Grapevine Vintage Railroad. The company is well-known for their dazzling variety of excursions – ranging from the Christmas Wine Train to the Thomas The Tank Engine attraction.
This summer, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad is debuting a new speakeasy-experience, where passengers can sip on fine wine to the sounds of swing about the Lonestar Speakeasy Special.
Departing at 7:25 pm on June 7, the experience allows for passengers to don their finest flappers and knickerbockers – or whatever they wore back in the ’20s – and cosplay in the likes of Gatsby.
“Summer is right around the corner and The Lone Star Speakeasy Special on June 7, 2024 is the perfect way to welcome its arrival in style,” the company writes on its website.
“This experience transforms the Historic Grapevine Vintage Railroad into a mobile speakeasy complete with sights and sounds reminiscent of that unforgettable era.”
Tickets for the 21+, adults-only experience are now on sale through Grapevine Ticketline. Individual tickets are priced at $52 per person. This includes two glasses of Texas wine, a souvenir glass, as well as individually portion food items. Additional wine is available for purchase.
The experience on June 7 is timed at two hours. Passengers are asked to check-in at 6:30 pm at the Historic Cotton Belt Depot. After which they will be able to board beginning at 7:05 pm. The train departs at 7:25 pm and returns around 9:30 pm.
If for whatever reason you can’t make the special, one-off event, Grapevine Vintage Railroad will also host their second-annual, disco-themed Summer Wine Train on July 26. This excursion is also 21-and-over and will allow for passengers to enjoy Texas wine to groovy tunes.
