Dubbed the “greatest show in sports,” Banana Ball is a high-octane, comedic twist on traditional baseball—think Harlem Globetrotters meets the diamond. Born in 2020 out of Savannah, Georgia, the game was created by the Savannah Bananas and has exploded in popularity thanks to viral TikTok moments and sold-out stadium tours across the country. Now, the phenomenon is expanding westward with the debut of a brand-new team: the Texas Tailgaters.
What Is Banana Ball?
Banana Ball strips away the slow pace of traditional baseball and replaces it with relentless energy and nonstop entertainment. The rules are designed to keep things moving and keep fans on their toes—literally. Games are capped at two hours, there are no bunts or walks, and if a fan catches a foul ball, it counts as an out.
The chaos doesn’t stop with the rules. Players break into dance mid-inning, execute trick plays, and sometimes even take the field on stilts. It’s a sport where athleticism meets absurdity—and that’s exactly the point.
Meet the Texas Tailgaters
The Texas Tailgaters are the fourth official team in the Banana Ball universe, joining the Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, Firefighters, and rotating “Visitors.” Unlike the other teams, the Tailgaters aren’t tied to one home stadium. Instead, they represent the Lone Star State as a whole, with games scheduled across various Texas cities.
Tour Dates and Debut
The Texas Tailgaters’ debut comes during the Savannah Bananas’ 2025 World Tour, which includes several stops in Texas. The team makes their Texas debut at Riders Field in Frisco on September 5, where the Tailgaters will take on the Party Animals. The team will also have a game in Frisco on September 6.
Their first official game takes place earlier in the tour on May 24 in Albuquerque, where they’ll face off against the Party Animals.
How to Watch
As of now, tickets for the Tailgaters’ Frisco games are still available through major ticketing platforms. Given the Bananas’ history of sellouts, fans are encouraged to act quickly.
