The history of jazz in the city was written in the vibrant clubs of Deep Ellum, where legends like Blind Lemon Jefferson and T-Bone Walker helped shape the scene. Today, the tradition continues with spots like the Balcony Club or events like The Jazz Room in Dallas. Featuring a smokin’ local jazz band that will recreate iconic hits, such as “On The Sunny Side Of The Street” and “Stella by Starlight”, the show is a celebration of jazz in all its expressions.
What’s on at The Jazz Room in Dallas?
The Jazz Room: a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong
Under Dallas night lights, hear Frank Sinatra’s velvet swing glide beside Louis Armstrong’s groundbreaking trumpet, a dialogue where improvisation, syncopation, and personal phrasing lead the dance. It’s heritage and now: elegant charts, elastic grooves, and the kind of intimacy we love—close, conversational, alive. Come for the classics reimagined; stay for that timeless hush between notes when the room breathes with the band. Don’t miss out.
A Journey to the Heart of New Orleans
Settle into The Jazz Room as Dallas eases into a New Orleans state of mind — brassy, bluesy, and unhurried. You catch second-line sway, piano that smiles at the top end, and trumpet tones hanging like humidity after rain. This is a guided drift through the Crescent City’s songbook, shaped with polish and heart, close enough to hear the cymbals breathe. You’re not chasing nostalgia; you’re living it for an hour, with stories between tunes and lighting meant for listening — the kind of night that leaves you walking out softer, and a little more in step.
