Tough Mudder, the global leader in obstacle course adventures, is about to bring its muddy, action-packed weekend to the Dallas area.
With the months of kicking back with a beer and roasting in the summer sun behind us, it is time to knuckle down for fall and winter. If you’ve been working on that beach bod you might be in the best shape you’ve been in for a while, and if you haven’t… well, this might be something to make up for those months on the couch watching other men and women perform athletic feats on television.
Jokes aside, Tough Mudder obstacle courses aren’t reserved for the athletic adrenaline junkies nor the bearded, tattooed, walking talking bulks of muscle, they’re for anybody and everybody. As one of, if not the most popular event in the exploding obstacle race movement, Tough Mudder is designed to put strength, stamina, teamwork, and mental grit to the test but, though it may look like it, it isn’t a military-style boot camp with a Drill Sergeant imitator screaming profanities in your ear.
Whether you come with goofy custom-made t-shirts, sentimental, spaciously sized tops you’ve worn through many a hangover or the tight and skimpy sports attire that screams you mean business, Tough Mudder is a race for everybody and anybody, and a great way to spend the weekend with friends and family.
Hosted at the True Grit Ranch in Granbury, various different courses will be coming to the Dallas area on Saturday, October 29th & Sunday, October 30th. There will be everything from the 1/2 mile Mini Mudder course for kids ages 5-7 featuring 10 obstacles and the Tough Mudder 5K which features 3+ miles of teamwork-inspired obstacles to the Tough Mudder 15K loaded with 30 of the world’s craziest obstacles.
For those amped-up experienced ultra-adventurers who fancy taking on the ultimate challenge, Tough Mudder will also be hosting its new Tough Mudder Infinity event on Saturday, October 29th. This involves an 8-hour competition, challenging participants to complete as many laps of a Tough Mudder course as they can.
By creating unconventional experiences that push participants outside their comfort zone, Tough Mudder was created with the aim of pushing participants outside of their comfort zone while bringing all types of people together through obstacles that challenge them both physically and mentally while also harnessing the power of teamwork and camaraderie.
“In life, almost everything we achieve as an individual is in some way the result of a group effort. Our events are designed to reflect that- at many points on the course, you’re going to need a helping hand from a stranger and to reach back and be that helping hand for someone else,“ said Tough Mudder CEO Giles Chater.
Rest assured, there is no clock, nobody forcing you to complete the obstacles (you can go around them if need be) only “the rush of testing your limits and the satisfaction of knowing you gave it your all.”
Voted USA Today’s Best Historic Small Town in America in 2019, 2020, and 2021, Granbury is a small town an hour outside of Dallas “rich in unique culture, deep Texas history, and southern hospitality.”
But anyway, ready for a baptism of mud? Tickets begin at $105 per person with group packages available and can be purchased via the Tough Mudder website. For more information visit toughmudder.com.
