Universal has ramped up excitement for its Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, following its initial announcement in early 2023. While we already knew the 97-acre complex would include a themed hotel and focus entirely on families with young children, new details and images released this past week confirm the beloved IPs taking center stage.
Anticipated attractions will immerse guests in iconic settings, including the mucky domain of Shrek Swamp and the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants’ Bikini Bottom. The resort is scheduled for a June 2026 debut, occupying the prime location across the Dallas North Tollway at the Panther Creek and Fields Parkways interchange.

The Universal Kids Resort will feature the following attractions, per the latest update:
- Spongebob Squarepants Bikini Bottom
- Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
- Puss in Boots Del Mar
- Jurassic World Adventure Camp
- Trollsfest
- Isle of Curiosity
- Shrek’s Swamp
“With all the interactive play areas at Universal Kids Resort where kids can explore, discover and create, we’re really excited about this being a place for kids to play their way,” said Brian Robinson, Universal Creative Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, in a press release.

“It produced a park that’s pure joy and an absolute celebration of what it is to be a kid”.
These meticulously crafted themed areas will serve as detailed, large-scale playgrounds, transporting guests directly into the worlds of classic animated films. Children won’t just see their favorite movies—they’ll be able to meet the characters and play in the scenes themselves. Each land will be packed with engaging opportunities, offering everything from unique themed rides to splashy water attractions and a host of interactive games and activities.
The Universal Kids Resort in Frisco is slated to open in June 2026.
