Create A DIY Masterpiece At This Boozy Workshop Bar • Upstairs Circus

Need a little liquid courage to tackle your home DIY project?

If the pandemic taught us anything it’s that free time isn’t the only requisite for completing all those home fix-up projects we pinned on our Pinterest accounts. If you need a little extra moral support – and some creative juices – swing down to Upstairs Circus for a little bit of both! [Featured image: @upstairscircus]

There’s an artist in us all, tap into the spirit at Upstairs Circus in Deep Ellum, where the workshop/cocktail bar invites aspiring craftmakers to build, weave, and create their own unique works of art with a community of fellow imbibers.

Here’s how it works. First, visitors make a reservation at one of the bar’s Project Socials, with options for private groups, happy hour specials, and community builds, and more. Each Project Social typically costs $39 – $42 per person.

“During a Project Social, patrons are given supplies, tools, space and a photo tutorial for their chosen project,” the workshop writes on its website. “We do not teach step-by-step classes, but rather, our assistants are trained to answer any project questions you may have -or- help you through anything you have questions on while you make your masterpiece.”

Once your settled, you will then choose your project. These projects range from woodcrafts – wooden 6-pack carries, butcher boards, and jewelry hangers, to lifestyle products such as leather wallets, pet collars and luggage tags, as well as wear and art options, encompassing bracelets, necklaces, wall art, and more. For a full list of project options, visit their website here.

As your crafting your work of art, you can choose from their list of libations for a creative boost. In additional to an assortment of red and white wines, Upstairs Circus offers a number of crafty cocktails. Their Circus Donkey is a Moscow Mule with a twist made with grapefruit vodka, ginger beer, and lime. Seasonal cocktails are also available when the time comes, as well as virgin cocktails.

If you need a little extra elbow grease, the bar also caries a food menu with items from local restaurants.
