Some Halloween costumes deserve more than a house party. If you’ve been building yours since August—or just want to admire everyone else’s handiwork—the Dallas Halloween Block Party – described as “the biggest street party in Texas” – returns to Cedar Springs Road this October – with free entry!
Cedar Springs is getting dressed up
Held in the heart of Oak Lawn’s LGBTQ+ nightlife district, the annual block party brings over ten thousand revelers to the strip for one of the neighborhood’s biggest nights out. Expect elaborate costumes, plenty of people-watching, and a crowd that takes dressing up seriously.

This year’s event promises live music, drag shows, and a costume runway competition—an excellent excuse to give that wildly impractical outfit its moment in the spotlight. The festivities center on the 3900 block of Cedar Springs Road, with the neighborhood’s bars and clubs close at hand.
Make a night of it
Cedar Springs is home to nightlife favorites including S4, Sue Ellen’s, and JR’s, so there’s plenty nearby for anyone who wants to keep the evening going. Street-party admission is free, though individual venues may charge their own covers.

Come dressed to compete or simply enjoy the spectacle. Either way, this is a Halloween outing where the crowd is a big part of the show.
