This holiday season, Dallas’s Zoo Lights spectacle will return, albeit, a little differently. For 36 select night, the festive spectacle will be open to the public as a drive-thru event between November 20 and January 3. [Featured image: @dallaszoo]
In the pandemic era, we’ve seen an influx of drive-in/drive-thru entertainment in every way, shape, and form. Whether it’s movies, concerts, or haunted houses, the drive-thru has come in clutch as a vehicle for the people to continue enjoying their favorite forms of entertainment in a safe and distanced way. As such, Zoo Lights is pulling up to Dallas this year in similar fashion.
“We’ve reimagined Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant so you can now drive through a holiday safari of lights in your own vehicle,” the zoo writes on their website.
The Dallas Zoo has revamped their habitat with a sparkling pathway beset with million of festive lights complete with lanterns made in the image of the zoo’s animal residents. Along the 25-30 minute route, visitors can tune into the radio to the zoo’s 1670AM radio station to crank holiday tunes while cruising through the enchanting displays.
At the end of the route, visitors may park and take a stroll through the Reliant Holiday Village for holidays snacks, merry libations, and of course, photo ops.
With the current circumstances, the zoo is implementing a new timed entry system for visitors. Tickets, priced at $50 for members and $65 for non-members – all per vehicle, must be purchased in advance online.
Important to note all ticket sales are final. No refunds or time changes will be permitted after purchase.
Holiday food and drink goodie bags will be available for purchase on site, which includes such items as popcorn, holiday sweets, themed souvenir cups, hot chocolate and more.
The Zoo Lights drive-thru experience starts at 6:30 pm nightly. Face masks are required for anyone exiting the vehicle – such as to use the restroom or stroll through the Holiday Village, or who interacts with staff. For all rules and regulations, visit their website here.
