In case you weren’t already aware, actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who played chemistry teacher-turned-methamphetamine mastermind Walter White, and his troublesome former student Jesse Pinkman, are real-life partners in crime (not literally) and have spent the last few years cooking up a masterful mezcal under their brand Dos Hombres.
Let us tell you now… it is worth a shot.
Having launched in 2019, Paul and Cranston’s off-screen venture into the mezcal market has been as successful as their on-screen partnership as the faces of one of the greatest television series of all time. The synergy that we saw blossom during the filming of Breaking Bad can now be found in bottles of their award-winning spirit.
Already a much sought-after mezcal, this weekend fans of both the spirit industry and the era-defining TV show will be able to grab a bottle signed there and then by the Breaking Bad stars themselves.
“We started Dos Hombres to create a Mezcal that we thought was perfect. A unique blend of the finest Espadin agave, hand-selected from the hillsides of a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico” reads the Dos Hombres website.
Though the Jesse Pinkman and Walter White actors are the faces of the brand, Gregorio Velasco Luis, a revered third-generation mezcalero based in Oaxaca, Mexico, is largely to thank for the production of the Tequila-like spirit.
Luis makes the Dos Hombres mezcal from six-year-old agave in the hills around San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca. Harvesting, gathering, chopping, roasting, mashing, fermenting, and then finally distilling, this old-school mezcal making ensures nothing is lost and each batch is bouncing with flavor.
“It’s artisanal, so we don’t need to use electricity. It’s just all old-world,” Aaron Paul told Rolling Stone last year. “The only thing in our juice is smoked agave and mountain spring water and it’s such a beautiful spirit.”
This coming Saturday, January 21st, both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will be signing bottles and mingling with fans at Total Wine & More on 9350 N. Central Expressway from 11 am to 12:30 pm
If you can’t wait for the actors to come to Dallas this Saturday, it’ll be the second of two Texas stops this month with an appearance at Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods in Houston taking place this Wednesday, January 18th at 10 am.
No RSVP is required to attend either bottle signing but we’re anticipating lines so it is recommended turning up early to be part of the meth-turned-mezcal makers mingling with admirers and get your hands on some top-shelf memorabilia.
