Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day is a longstanding tradition that has been going strong since 1979. Began at its first-ever ice cream stand, housed in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, the ice cream shop wanted to celebrate its customers for their continued business.
This past year, Ben & Jerry’s served over one million scoops of free ice cream.
“Free Cone Day has always been about gratitude – we want to thank our fans for being the best fans in the world with free ice cream and a moment of pure joy,” said Ben & Jerry’s CEO,Dave Stever, in a press release.
“This year, more than ever, we’re reminded how powerful those small moments of happiness can be. We can’t wait to connect with our fans over a scoop of ice cream on the most Ben & Jerry-est day of the year!”
For those of us in the Dallas area, Ben & Jerry’s has one Scoop Shop located at Plano Parkway Ice Cream Shop at 1501 Preston Road in Plano. To claim your free ice cream, simply head to shop, wait in line, choose your flavor, and enjoy. No purchase necessary!
Is one scoop not enough? Guess what – you can take a lap and get back in line and repeat the process to your heart’s content!
As far as flavors go, Ben & Jerry’s is serving Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (non-dairy), Phish Food, and Mango.
Free Cone Day runs from noon to 8 pm this Tuesday, April 8.
