Kirby Ice House, a popular sports bar concept with multiple locations in Houston – and owners of the longest bar in Texas, are set to expand into the DFW region.
Kirby Ice House originally opened in Houston Upper Kirby’s neighborhood in 2016. Located at 3333 Eastside Street, the ice house’s “backyard” concept became a popular draw. Since then, the Kirby Ice House has four locations across the Houston area. Its location in The Heights, is home to a record-breaking bar.
Spanning 146 feet, its the longest bar in Texas – dethroning the previous title, which also belonged to Kirby Ice House at its location in The Woodlands.
According to permits submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Kirby Ice House plans to open two North Texas. Presently, permits reveal the ice house has mapped out locations in Irving at 1251 W Royal Ln. and in Plano at 208 Coit Rd.
Both locations, per the permits, will be 13,200 square feet in size and features both indoor and outdoor areas. Construction is slated to begin early 2027, with a completion date of the Plano around six months later. Construction on the Irving location is expected to take long, running through March 2029.
The venue serves beer, cocktails, and wine, and hosts a rotating selection of local food trucks. Amenities include outdoor backyard games and dozens of big-screen TVs, all set within a space designed to update the traditional Texas ice house concept.
“The beautiful thing about Kirby Ice House is that there’s something for everyone,” said co-owner and founding partner Danny Evans in a press statement. “The fundamentals of Kirby Ice House are simple: Great service, ice cold beer, huge patios and the best place to watch games and host big events. It’s a Texas thing.”
Kirby Ice House hasn’t made any official statements on its coming DFW locations, though officials have previously stated their intentions to expand the concept across Texas.
