Go down the rabbit hole at SXSW this March.
Meow Wolf is an experimental large-scale art venue that creates impossibly fantastic immersive experiences. This spring, the iconic psychedelic venue is bringing a temporary “interdimensional portal” to Austin for South By Southwest.
While Austin has certainly become less and less weird over the past decade or so, this South By Southwest festival-goers will have the chance to experience a glimmer of the weirdness of which Austin was once known.
Legendary art-experience curators, Meow Wolf, are making their debut at SXSW this year with a special “interdimensional portal” pop-up with audio partner, Spatial.
“Our partner Spatial will take visitors on an enthralling adventure with a whole new never before seen Meow Wolf experience,” Meow Wolf writes in a Press Release. “Spatial can transform and enhance everything about a space—by auditorial transferring attendees to a completely new reality involving immersive audio.”
With its interdimensional portal pop-up at “The Spatial Holodeck” next to The Sunset Room at E 3rd St, Meow Wolf promises “an experience with infinite potential of immersive technologies to enhance human experiences, in real world environments. Immersive audio is more than just what you hear, it’s what you feel.”
Beyond this comment, there is no further details of what the experience will comprise. Interested patrons can visit Meow Wolf’s website to get a taste of the visceral, alien-world-building for which it is famous.
The immersive experience will be available from 10 am to 6 pm, March 11 – March 14, on 310 E 3rd St.
Additionally, various personnel at Meow Wolf will be present at a number of panels that week, including the Visioning Alternate Climate Futures panel on March 17; Metawhat? The Future of Real-World Entertainment; and Trends and Challenges for Experiential Culture on March 16.
