Ever since the announcement this past July that Michelin would be expanding into Texas, we’ve been looking forward to which Dallas and Fort Worth restaurants would receive the coveted Michelin Stars.
Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer. The company announced this past Monday the official release date of its first Texas Michelin restaurant guide.
Much like this past September when Michelin announced the first wave of Texas hotels to be awarded Michelin Keys, the company will be hosting a special invite-only ceremony on November 11 in Houston where it will unveil the Texas Michelin Guide restaurants.
“We are delighted to be hosting the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Texas Ceremony in the vibrant city of Houston,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guides.
“Houston is full of culinary innovation and world-class hospitality, which goes hand in hand with our values at The MICHELIN Guide. Together with Houston First, as well as the support of Travel Texas, we look forward to an evening of celebration as we toast to the restaurants that our Inspectors have chosen to award in Texas.”
As stated in its expansion announcement, the Texas Michelin Guide will cover the best restaurants in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio – as well as surrounding suburbs.
The special ceremony on November 11th is by invitation only – including possible Michelin-starred chefs – though eager food enthusiasts can witness live updates on Michelin’s website for the release of the first Michelin-starred restaurants in Texas.
Michelin Stars are awarded on a three-tiered scale. Michelin Stars factor in five criteria: quality of ingredients, synchronicity of flavors, technique mastery, personality of chef via the cuisine, and consistency.
As its foundation, one star indicates a “very good restaurant”; two stars represent “excellent cooking that is worth a detour”; and three stars is awarded to chefs/restaurants that offer “exceptional cuisine that is worth a journey”.
