1. Hamilton
You know it, you love it. Hamilton, the critically-acclaimed, award-winning musical written and composed by Lin Manuel Miranda has been the hottest ticket in town since it debuted off broadway in New York City. Based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography, Hamilton narrates the story of the founding father’s life from his beginnings in the West Indies to his death by duel. Masterfully blending hip-hop, soul, R&B, and show tunes, the production illustrates the story of “America then, as told by America now.” The production will hold a residency at the Music Hall at Fair Park between November 16 and December 5 of this year. Presently, tickets to the production can only be purchased in a 6-show subscription package.
2. Wicked
See how the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz got the Wicked Witch of the West all wrong. Wicked follows her story back from way before Oz, and her rivalry, friendship, and ultimate falling out with Galinda who’d become Glinda the Good Witch. You can catch Wicked at Fair Park from August 3 – September 5. Presently, the show is only available as a part of the season package.
3. Jersey Boys
Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical, Jersey Boys, documents the vibrant career of four outsiders from Jersey who would come take the music world by storm. While skyrocketing on the airwaves, things were all but copacetic off stage for the group. See the real-life story of the international sensations with included performances of some of the band’s most iconic hits! Jersey Boys runs from December 28, 2021 to January 9, 2022.
4. Frozen
Disney instant-classic turned broadway musical is a magical theatrical experience not to miss. The Frozen musical features an expanded score with sparkling new ballads penned from the Oscar-winning movie’s original songwriters, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Experience the exalting joy of Frozen in real life during its Dallas run from July 20 to August 7, 2022.
5. OKLAHOMA!
OKLAHOMA! was the first production written by legendary broadway duo, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The original Pulitzer Prize-winning play debuted on broadway back in 1943. 75 years later, the groundbreaking production is being re-imagined for the 21st century with a darker and more psychologically revealing depiction of the classic frontier story. OKLAHOMA! plays in Dallas from May 31 to June 12, 2022.
6. RENT
A quarter of a century after shattering the broadway world, the Pulitzer Prize-winning production is celebrating its 25th Anniversary “Farewell Season of Love” – giving beloved fans their last chance to catch the profoundly emotional and inspirational production. For one weekend only, you can experience RENT one last time from February 18 – 20, 2022.
7. Hadestown
Journey to the underworld and back at this octuple (8) Tony Award-winning musical. The Anaïs Mitchell written and composed production of Hadestown that clinched the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, is an otherworldy epic that interweaves two tragic tales through their road to hell and back. Hitting the stage at the Winspear Opera House from January 18 – 30, 2022, Hadestown is a poetic and imaginative production captivating to the very end.
8. Come From Away
Inspired by the true story of the time 7,000 travelers landed unexpectedly in the bespoke town of Gander in Canada in the wake of the September 11 attacks, Come From Away tells the story of the communities coming together, and how human kindness prevails in the face of darkness. The theater runs from March 8 to March 20, 2022 at the Music Hall in Fair Park. Single tickets are currently on sale.
9. Mean Girls
You’ve seen the movie – if you’re like us, you can probably quote it – but you’ve never seen Mean Girls like this before. Sit with us next May as Mean Girls takes the stage between May 3 and May 15. To quote Entertainment Weekly: “It’s not a regular musical, it’s a cool musical.”
10. Jesus Christ Superstar
The internationally-renowned musical marks its 50th anniversary with a modern rendition from Timothy Sheader and Drew McOnie. Having won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, the musical offers a fresh take on the classic production, while paying tribute to its historical concert-like roots. The play will go on next April from the 5th to the 17th at the Music Hall in Fair Park. Presently, it is only available in the form of a 6-show subscription package.
