This weekend, the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington – named one of the most beautiful museums in the entire world by Prix Versailles – is hosting a special, two-day Independence Day festival with live music, classic American fare, and a front row seat to the Light Up Arlington fireworks show.
Inaugurated in March 2025, the National Medal of Honor Museum stands as a dedicated tribute to the service members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have been awarded the country’s most esteemed military honor.
Earlier this year, reputable international design and architecture award, Prix Versailles, named the museum among the 7 most beautiful museums in the world. Notably, the National Medal of Honor Museum was the only U.S. museum to be featured on the list.
Beginning Saturday, July 4, the National Medal of Honor Museum will host Freedom Fest, a two-day Independence Day celebration featuring live music, historical screenings, and a fireworks watch party. Inside the facility, attendants can explore its immersive exhibits and join a guided tour detailing the history of the Medal of Honor and American independence.
On Sunday July 5, U.S. Army’s 1st Cavalry Division Band will perform military and contemporary music on the Upper Museum Terrace from 7:30 – 9 pm. Immediately following, attendees can watch the annual Light Up Arlington fireworks show from the museum’s amphitheater overlooking Mark Holtz Lake. Food and beverage options will be available for purchase on-site.
Additionally, the Neel Kearby Theater will screen excerpts from Ken Burns’ The American Revolution, followed by self-guided civic reflection activities in the Lincoln Lobby.
Throughout the holiday weekend, the 1861 Café Restaurant will serve classic American menus, giving attendees a place to dine between activities.
The museum itself will be open fro 10 am – 5 pm on July 4; 10 am – 7:30 pm on July 5. The museum is located at 1861 AT&T Way in Arlington.
