Just when you thought the hospitality scene couldn’t be simplified any further the digital age has pulled another one out of the bag. McDonald’s has unveiled a new first-of-its-kind digital-only drive-through that will trial an innovative new concept and the only place you can experience it is in Fort Worth.
The hamburger giant’s new test restaurant is 26% smaller than the average McDonald’s joint with zero seating capacity and no extra amenities other than the essentials to make it as efficient an experience as possible.
Instead, it is all specifically designed for to-go orders with a food conveyor belt and multiple pick-up areas. Designed to speed up drive-thru orders, there will be an “Order Ahead Lane” which lets you place an order ahead of time via McDonald’s mobile app and then use another lane other than the regular drive-through lane to grab your order from a conveyor belt without waiting in line.
According to a McDonald’s release, “the Order Ahead Lane uses technology that allows the restaurant team to begin preparing customers’ orders when they’re near the restaurant. The enhanced technology at this location helps the hardworking restaurant team, too.”
“The restaurant’s app updates, food and beverage conveyor, and new kitchen format all streamline operations – leading to a fast, seamless experience for both customers and crew.”
The new concept McDonald’s drive-thru is located at 8540 West Fwy.
