People unwind in different ways. Some like to have a couple brews at the end of the day to take the edge off, others opt for an evening at the spa. At the Luxury Czech Hotel Pivovar in Waco, you can have the best of both worlds.
While a beer bath might sound like one of those trendy new wellness treatments, the practice traces back thousands of years. The longstanding tradition was largely practiced in Eastern Europe, wherein folk healers believed that beer yeast, hops, barley, and other ingredients in beer provided many health benefits.
Such health benefits include: releasing bodily toxins, smoothing wrinkles, moisturizing skin, nourishing hair, benefitting the immune system, supporting metabolism, and treating other ailments such as hepatitis.

While the largest concentration of beer spas are located in the Czech Republic, predominately in Prague, you can now find these sudsy spas all over the world. One of which is located at the Pivovar hotel in Waco, Texas.
The luxury Czech hotel in downtown Waco began as a traditional Czech brewery housed inside the historical New Katy hotel. Over time, Pivovar made additions to its facilities, now featuring a brewery, biergarten, hotel, restaurant, and beer spa.
Its beer spa treatment is divided into two parts. First, patrons soak themselves in a hand-crafted copper tub of beer and an herbal beer mixture. Meanwhile, bathers can also enjoy flights of Pivovar beers, a wine flight, and/or cheese board from the on-site restaurant. The spa recommends drinking beer during the experience to enhance relaxation.

The second part consists of further relaxation, enjoying more beer at your leisure. Bathers are advised not to shower within 12 hours to experience the full benefit of the experience. The hotel notes that the brewers yeast will make your skin feel soft, rather than sticky.
The one-hour beer spa experience is priced at $200 – for one or for two.
Pivovar is located at 320 S 8th Street in Waco, Texas.
