Dallas isn’t just for show. While the city might not have as many Michelin-starred restaurants as other Texas cities, Dallas’ upscale culinary scene proves to be more than fancy digs. UK-based publication, Love Food, recently compiled a list of the most expensive restaurants in each state that are worth experience. At the top of Texas, are two Dallas restaurants: Tatsu Dallas and Monarch.
Even before the Michelin Star, Tatsu Dallas had been a coveted dining experience in the city. Now, the city’s only Michelin-starred venue is the hottest ticket in town. It appears, that Tatsu realizes the concept of supply and demand, as the venue was recently named the most expensive restaurant in Texas.
UK-based digital platform Love Food is a publication from independent digital media company, Love Incorporated, which spans the culinary world of recipes, culture, and travel features. The agency recently compiled a list of the priciest restaurants in every state across the nation that are worth the bill. This last note is important.

In compiling their list, the group weighed price data, awards, accolades, and user reviews.
At the top of Texas is Tatsu Dallas. Housed inside the Continental Gin Building at 3309 Elm St Ste 120 in Deep Ellum, Tatsu Dallas is an Omakase restaurant from Tatsuya Sekiguchi.
The intimate venue, comprised of just 10 counter seats served together, hosts two seatings a night five nights per week Tuesday through Saturday. Its Omakase experience is priced at $185 and consists of around 14 pieces in the Edomae tradition.
Here’s what Love Food had to say:
“This Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant serves just 20 guests a night, so securing your spot is a feat in itself. For $185, diners enjoy an omakase experience, with a seasonal tasting menu consisting of one or two appetizers, 13-15 pieces of nigiri-style sushi, a hand roll, miso soup, and a dessert. It’s an intimate occasion, and guests are encouraged to interact with chef owner Tatsuya Sekiguchi.”
Following Tatsu Dallas on the list of the most expensive restaurants in every state is fellow Dallas venue, Monarch.

Perched on the 49th floor of The National, Monarch is a concept from Michelin-starred chef, Danny Grant. On top of breathtaking scenery, the venue prepares immaculate wood-fired Italian dishes, house-made pastas, and top-tier meats.
Here’s what Love Food had to say about Monarch:
“For a special occasion splurge, the chef’s tasting menu ($300 per person with drinks matching) offers the best Monarch has to offer. You won’t know what’s coming until it lands in front of you, but expect a caviar service, Alaskan king crab legs, whole Maine lobster spaghetti, wagyu strip steak, and all manner of delicious desserts.”
Good news for Dallasites, Monarch is now offering a seasonal chef’s tasting menu priced at $175.
