Airplane food just got a lot better. While most of us are used to choosing between non-descript pasta and something chicken, first-class passengers of American Airlines can now order award-winning barbecue courtesy of Pecan Lodge.
Pecan Lodge is a staple of the Dallas barbecue scene, famous for its long lines and award-winning menu. Originated in 2010, the restaurant specializes in traditional Texas-style barbecue, featuring slow-smoked brisket, tender pork ribs, and handmade sausages. These meats are paired with classic Southern sides, such as creamy mac ‘n’ cheese and crispy fried okra.

While its Deep Ellum location offers a casual, unpretentious environment that focuses entirely on the quality of its craft barbecue, the BBQ staple also has an express style location in Terminal A of the DFW Airport. As of this January, the award-winning BBQ spot is serving its smoked brisket and sausage and Southern sides from the skies in a new partnership with American Airlines.
“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we’re looking forward to delighting our customers in new ways that honor unique regional tastes, beginning right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas,” said American Airlines’ senior vice president of customer experience design and strategy, Rhonda Crawford.

American Airlines will offer a Pecan Lodge barbecue platter complete with brisket, sausage, as well as sides of creamy mac and cheese, pickles, onions, and coleslaw. and sides. The Pecan Lodge barbecue platter will be available for first-class passengers on select flights from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA).
Interested first-class passengers on these flights must preorder Pecan Lodge through the American Airlines mobile app or website, aa.com.
