The alcohol that started them all: before the likes of beer, wine, and margaritas, there was mead. Raise a glass to the OG at the Texas Mead & Music Festival this fall.
After conquering the likes of Central Texas, the Texas Mead & Music Festival will take over North Texas at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. For one day only this September, the mead and music festival will be serving up a strong lineup of meaderies, musicians, immersive activations, and more just outside of Dallas.
The Texas Mead & Music Festival takes place on Saturday, September 19, at the Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie. Produced by same team behind the renaissance festival as well as the Scarborough Hollow Fall Fantasy Festival, the mead festival will feature 13 Texas meaderies, 16 artists performing across five stages, educational opportunities, artisan shopping, and interactive experiences.
“There is no better place to celebrate mead than Scarborough Faire,” said Veronica Castelo, general manager of Southwest Festivals in a press release. “For decades, guests have associated our Renaissance Festival with mead, history and craftsmanship. The Texas Mead & Music Festival builds on that tradition while introducing visitors to today’s incredible Texas mead makers.”

Tickets to the Mead & Music Festival are available through the official event website. Adult admission is priced at $38.50 (plus tax). Tickets include six mead samples, a souvenir tasting cup, and admission to parking, live music, education presentations, vendors, and festival activities. General admission for ages 5 – 20 is priced at $11 (plus tax). Children under four are permitted free entrance.
The festival also offers a VIP ticket option. Priced at $55 (plus tax) VIP tickets allow one-hour early admission, 12 mead samples, commemorative cup, as well as access to Blackthorn Haunted Castle, Secrets of Rottingwood Cemetery Scavenger Hunt, and Trickster’s 3D Fun House.
For those aged between 5 and 20, VIP tickets are available for $22 (plus tax) and include access to the aforementioned premium attractions.
