What is “We Call It Tango”?
In short, it is a dance show. But, there is a lot more to the performance expertly choreographed by Agustina Videla and Pablo Destito.
We Call It Tango tells the life story of Amelia and how her world is completely changed once she dances la milonga. Two professional dancers take to the stage to perform 13 different tangos across three acts. As well as witnessing some complex moves and high leg wraps, audiences will hear songs both representative of classic tango and more contemporary takes.
Tango, its music, and the show
The bandoneon, a kind of concertina and essential instrument for tango music, and the piano provide the syncopated rhythm to which the dance partners wearing gorgeous costumes will lock eyes. Turning to songs by the likes of Astor Piazzolla, Ángel Villoldo, Alfredo Gobbi, and Juan D’Arienzo, two skilled musicians are set to do justice to some of the greatest musical feats of the tango’s powerful music style.
