1. Tortilleria La Sabrocita
Find authentic carnitas, nopalitos, chicharrón, and tacos al pastor – all wrapped in warm homemade tortillas – at Tortilleria La Sabrocita in Denton. When visiting, don’t miss their Costilla en Salsa Roja tacos, made with pork ribs smothered in tomato chile sauce.

2. Tacos La Banqueta Puro DF
When asking Dallasites where to get your hands on the best streets tacos in Dallas, you’re likely to hear one name again and again: Tacos La Banqueta DF. Now more accessible than ever, with locations in Arlington, Mansfield, and Fort Worth, La Banqueta DF features a splendid variety of tacos, tortas, and alambres.
Tacos are all priced at either $2 or $2.25 a pop (in this economy??) depending on whether you want yours served on corn of flour tortillas. Breakfast tacos are also available!

3. El Come Taco
Billed as the most traditional fresh tacos and drinks in town, El Come Tacos is a family business that a rotating menu of traditional, house, and “other” tacos. Past fixtures have included the likes of chapulines (grasshoppers) and escamoles (ant larvae) – and the people love it.
With their rotating menu, present options range from adobo-marinated pork, to chopped brisket, and salted sirloin. Be sure to try Jose’s Taco, served with refried beans, avocado, and queso fresco.

4. Revolver Taco Lounge
For a little more of the new-age, gourmet taco era, head down to Revolver in Deep Ellum. Now with two locations in the area, Revolver features more eccentric options including the likes of wagyu beef, orange chicken, lobster, and octopus. When visiting, we’d be remiss not to recommend the Birria De Cabricito taco – served with Michaoacan goat birria, onion, cilantro, and salsa.

5. Velvet Taco
You know the one. Much like the now nationwide Torchy’s Tacos, Velvet Taco has expanded across state lines with locations in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, and more. That said, Dallas will always be its home.
Their menu varies by location and is categorized by ingredient: chicken, pork, veggie, beef, and fish – with over a dozen tasty options for the choosing. You can’t go wrong with their Spicy Tikka Chicken with a side of Crisp Tots and Local Egg topped off with a Kick Ass Margarita – that’s just a fact.

6. Resident Taqueria
With influences ranging from New York, to Nola, to Napa, it only makes sense that the menu at Resident Taqueria is a little different. Co-owned by Amy Clark, sister of rock star, St. Vincent, the Resident Taqueria features options ranging from pecan-smoked chicken with pickled sofrito, crushed peanuts, and salsa macha, to chorizo with onion, potato, and smoked tomata crema. Tacos are priced between $5 – $7 a piece.

7. Urban Taco
Outfitted in a vibrant pastel color-way, Urban Taco, is a small but snug taqueria with a trendy and reasonably-priced menu. Their tacos cost $3.50 or $4 a piece.
The price is a little extra with seafood. Options include beer-and-chile-braised barbacoa, chicken tinga, and red snapper. The Al Pastor a La Tuma – with fried manchego cheese, roasted habanero salsa, and avocado – is a tasty standout.

8. El Pueblo Restaurant
El Pueblo serves a variety of truly authentic street eats on the east side of Bishop Art District. Their taco selection is top notch, with a quartet going for the price of $6. Their carnitas taco, though, might just reign supreme. Also, breakfast served all day.

9. Trompo
See/taste for yourself if what Bon Appetit once named Taco of the Year, lives up to its name – it does. Trompo in Bishop Arts District has countless accolades under its belt and continues to serve Dallas with taco greatness.
With an entire menu worthy of your taste buds, their signature, Taco de Trompo, made with spice-rubbed pork roasted on a meat spit with chopped onions and cilantro, is an absolute must.

10. Fuel City Tacos
Make the pilgrimage to Fuel City Tacos flagship in Dallas. Housed inside a franchise gas station, car wash, and convenience store, Fuel City tacos is understandably unassuming. It’s also home to some of the cheapest, tastiest tacos in town.
All tacos are priced at $3.45 and are served with diced onions, cilantro, sliced lime, and hot sauce – with grilled jalapeño and onions upon request. If you’re filling up on an empty stomach Fuel City is where you need to do so.
