Dallas is buzzing, but that’s not always a quite a good thing. In a recent study, Dallas ranked as one of the top most mosquito-infested cities in the country. Yuck.
Not only are mosquitos a sure-fire way to ruin any given outing, the blood-sucking abomination of nature is also a common carrier of a number of diseases – not withstanding malaria, yellow fever, and malaria – with more severe consequences than a couple itchy bumps.
Cities across the world are forced to endure the wrath of these little beasts, Dallas more than most. Terminx – you know the one – recently conducted a study ranking the cities with the worst mosquito problem.
The study ranked 50 cities across the United States going off of data from Terminx’s 300 branches across the nation finding that DFW ranked as the third worst city in the US for mosquitos.
Of the 50 cities ranked, Tallahassee has the least problem with mosquitoes.
The company determined Los Angeles to be the worst city for mosquitoes followed by New York, New York.
On a state level, Texas ranked as the second most mosquito-infested state in the nation following California. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Maine was ranked as the state with the least mosquitoes, followed by Idaho, Iowa, Nevada, and Nebraska.
The study also includes a small guide of how to limit the mosquito problem in your immediate area. While the company maintains that contacting a mosquito control professional is the best way to controlling an infestation, Terminx tips include the following: removing sources of standing water, cleaning the gutters, changing water sources on a weekly basis, replacing outdoor lighting, and trimming overgrown vegetation.
