It’s no secret, Texas is built different. And while outsiders and tourists might delight in the state’s exceptional cuisine, countless attractions, and breathtaking state parks, there is always one, unavoidable complaint: the drivers.
This time last year, Car Insurance Comparison ranked the Lone Star State at the top (bottom?) of their list of bad drivers. Recently, their ranking was vindicated by a recent Forbes publication, which ranked Texas as the state with the worst drivers.
Through their study, Forbes found Texas to be the state with the worst drivers analyzing dangerous driving behavior using six key metrics, including: fatal car accidents involving a drowsy driver, accidents involving a driver driving the wrong way, number of drunk drivers involved in fatal crashes, and fatal car accidents involving a distracted driver.
In the drowsy car accidents and driver driving the wrong way categories, Texas ranked second worst in the nation. Furthermore, the study found Texas to report the third-highest number of drunk drivers involved in fatal crashes and ninth highest number of fatal accidents involving a distracted driver.
Elsewhere in the top five states of bad drivers, Texas was followed by Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. Conversely, a Forbes study ranked Washington DC as the state with the best drivers.
